The use of videos in language education has become a common practice in many learning environments in the past several years. And with the increase in online/blended learning approaches, recent research has shown that a more interactive approach utilizing videos enhances overall retention of content and learning effectiveness. This workshop will introduce a variety of simple online tools which enable the creation of interactive videos. Participants will have hands-on experience of taking videos from the Internet (e.g., Youtube, Vimeo, etc.) and transforming them into interactive experiences for their students. By the end of the workshop, participants should be able to add time markers, annotations, external links, and in-video quizzes to pre-existing videos. In addition, the use of augmented reality with videos will be introduced and demonstrated.
